The Graham Steers will challenge the Godley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Graham's win against Eagle Mountain wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Steers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 20-18.
The critical scores for Graham came from Dylan Cox, Colt Taylor, and Jordan Alexander.
Graham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, Godley entered their tilt with Hillsboro on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-14 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 21 points or more this season.
Graham better keep an eye on Jaxon Daily. He was instrumental in Godley's win, rushing for 77 yards and a pair of TDs, while also picking up 48 receiving yards and one score. Those 77 rushing yards gave Daily a new career-high. Ryder Papasan was another key player, throwing for 172 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
The victory got Godley back to even at 5-5. As for Graham, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Graham has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 202.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Godley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 204.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Graham's way against Godley when the teams last played back in November of 2018, as Graham made off with a 70-45 win. Do the Steers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
