Volleyball Recap: Emma Dempsey Key Part of Team Effort in Explorers Win

Marquette Catholic lost to Maryville Christian on September 11th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Explorers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Explorers.

Marquette Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marquette Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Dempsey, who had 20 digs and one assist. Those 20 digs gave Dempsey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Davenport, who had three digs and three blocks.

Marquette Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Maryville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Coming up, Marquette Catholic will challenge Peoria at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maryville Christian, they will square off against Collinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
