Softball Recap: Stoughton Vikings vs. Sauk Prairie Eagles

Stoughton barely beat Sauk Prairie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Madelyn Barsness's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Camille Buell was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Matheny, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Stoughton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sauk Prairie struck out 14 times.

Stoughton's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Sauk Prairie, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
