Baseball Game Preview: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. North Mac Panthers

The Southwestern Piasa Birds will head out to face off against the North Mac Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southwestern will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Southwestern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Carlinville.

The team relied heavily on Ian Brantley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Southwestern is 6-2 when Brantley posts two or more runs, but 7-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Bates, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for North Mac's offense. They fell just short of Greenville by a score of 2-0 last Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 7th.

North Mac's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 13-18.

Southwestern came up short against North Mac in their previous matchup back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Piasa Birds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
