Baseball Game Preview: Camp Verde Cowboys vs. Red Rock Scorpions

Camp Verde has gone 9-1 against Red Rock recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cowboys will be playing at home against the Scorpions at 3:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Camp Verde didn't have quite enough to beat Scottsdale Preparatory Academy and fell 6-5. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gunner Selting was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Selting was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Wyatt Mulcaire made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Red Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against Fountain Hills, falling 19-1.

Camp Verde's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Red Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13-1.

Camp Verde took their victory against Red Rock in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 20-2 score. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
