Football Recap: Norwood's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against Vail Christian last Friday, Norwood came back down to earth. The Mavericks fell 40-36 to the Plateau Valley Cowboys on Friday. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 40-34 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Even if they lost, Norwood's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Colton Kepley, Coulter Shumway, and Jacob Davis, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Having lost for the first time this season, Norwood fell to 2-1. As for Plateau Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwood will head out to take on Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will be up against the Buckaroo's rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Plateau Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Vail Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Cowboys their first taste of in-conference action this season.
