Basketball Recap: Putnam County Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Putnam County challenged Lowpoint-Washburn on Friday. The Putnam County Panthers fell 51-38 to the Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats. The Panthers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Lowpoint-Washburn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kody Knecht led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. What's more, Knecht also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Evan Schumacher was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 10 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lowpoint-Washburn, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Putnam County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-24 loss against Lexington on the 26th. As for Lowpoint-Washburn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-51 win against Polo on the 26th.
