Recap: McCamey Badgers vs. Anthony Wildcats

If the McCamey Badgers were riding high off their 66-46 takedown of the Fort Hancock Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McCamey took a 60-46 bruising from Anthony on Tuesday. McCamey has struggled against Anthony recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

McCamey lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Edgar Quinonez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacobi Pollard, who scored five points along with five assists and five rebounds.

McCamey's lineup was just a bit different on Tuesday as Wesley Mills got a bit more time on the court (26 vs. his season average of 12.25). Mills made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

McCamey has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Anthony, they pushed their record up to 19-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCamey will take on Wink at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Anthony, they will be playing at home against Fort Hancock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Anthony knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Fort Hancock likes a good challenge.
