Football Game Preview: Long Island Lutheran Crusaders vs. Eagle Academy II Eagle

The Long Island Lutheran Crusaders will face off against the Eagle Academy II Eagle at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Long Island Lutheran is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They came up short against Delaware Valley, falling 55-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crusaders came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in New York, while the Warriors are ranked 213th in Pennsylvania).

Despite their loss, Long Island Lutheran saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Peyton Robinson, who threw for 380 yards and one touchdown while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, was perhaps the best of all. The Crusaders' leading receiver Kameron Roy was Robinson's top target yet again, picking up 157 receiving yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Long Island Lutheran, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jacob Butler, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Eagle Academy II lost 52-32 to Erasmus Hall on Friday.

Eagle Academy II's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Long Island Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
