Softball Recap: Hinsdale South Comes Up Short

Hinsdale South had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-15-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Downers Grove South Mustangs, falling 15-2. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Hornets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tasanee Hilsen was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

As for Downers Grove South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

On Downers Grove South's side, Morgan Hahn tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Hahn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Downers Grove South got a massive performance out of Ella Kardatzke, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Kardatzke a new career-high. Victoria Colorato was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hinsdale South will host Leyden at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Downers Grove South, they will challenge Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Downers Grove South is facing Berwyn/Cicero Morton at the right time seeing as Berwyn/Cicero Morton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
