Baseball Game Preview: Rosa Fort Lions vs. North Panola Cougars

The Rosa Fort Lions will face off against the North Panola Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Panola took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Rosa Fort, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Rosa Fort earned a 10-7 victory over Coahoma County. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Red Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Kylan Poindexter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 15 over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in hits (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Christian Hillard was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jaboris Granberry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Panola's offense. They came up short against Independence on Friday, falling 13-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

North Panola's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Rosa Fort, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Rosa Fort's way against North Panola in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Rosa Fort made off with a 20-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rosa Fort since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
