Basketball Recap: Brandon Stephens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Laurens over Westside

West Laurens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Westside Patriots at home by a 67-53 margin. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in January.

West Laurens lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brandon Stephens, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston O'Neal, who posted 16 points.

West Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Westside, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, West Laurens will face off against Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they have already played their next matchup, a 72-62 win against Laney on the 6th.
