Softball Recap: Hancock County Beats Breckinridge County for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Hancock County won the last time they faced Breckinridge County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Fighting Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Carolina Jones and Ansley House did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs and two stolen bases, while House went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Jones continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Mosby, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hancock County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Hancock County's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Breckinridge County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hancock County will welcome Tell City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Hornets' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while the Marksmen have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Breckinridge County, they will host John Hardin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
