Baseball Game Preview: ALA - Queen Creek Patriots vs. Flagstaff Eagles

The ALA - Queen Creek Patriots will head out to face off against the Flagstaff Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (ALA - Queen Creek has eight straight wins, Flagstaff has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

ALA - Queen Creek's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Combs with a sharp 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

ALA - Queen Creek let Seth Nielson and Tayden Brewer run wild. Nielson went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Brewer went 2-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two triples gave Brewer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Buckner, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Flagstaff had taken Bradshaw Mountain down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Bears by a score of 5-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 14, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Cullen Callander was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

ALA - Queen Creek's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Flagstaff, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Both ALA - Queen Creek and Flagstaff just can't seem to miss. The Patriots have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Flagstaff struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits.
