Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Eagles vs. Blue Ridge Raiders

The Mountain View Eagles will take on the Blue Ridge Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mountain View and Forest City, and Forest City kept the tradition alive. The Eagles took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Foresters last Monday.

Addison Kilmer and Paige Smith did some serious damage despite the final result: Kilmer went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Smith went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Thatcher, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge lost 16-1 to Riverside on Monday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Blue Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Champang, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Champang has hit this season.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mountain View came up short against Blue Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, falling 3-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
