Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

If Skyline was feeling good fresh off their 53-32 takedown of Dobson last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Skyline Coyotes took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Mountain Mountain Lions on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, don't look at Zavier Flores. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Tage Flodstrom, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points.

Flores wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Skyline was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Gage Lindsey had a dynamite game for Red Mountain, going 9 of 10 en route to 20 points and three blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Lindsey now owns an excellent 46.9% shooting accuracy. Travon Darby was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Red Mountain, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Skyline didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-19 loss against Casteel on the 6th. As for Red Mountain, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-47 victory against Mountain View on the 7th.
