Softball Game Preview: East Hardy Cougars vs. Petersburg Vikings

East Hardy hasn't had much luck against Petersburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. East Hardy has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Hardy is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They lost 22-7 to Tucker County.

Addison Armentrout and Chelsea Mills did some serious damage despite the final result: Armentrout went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Mills went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that Mills has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor McReynolds, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Petersburg faced Frankfort in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Vikings came up short against the Falcons, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for East Hardy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

East Hardy suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Petersburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
