Baseball Recap: Crawfordsville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Benton Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crawfordsville). They never let the Benton Central Bison get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The Athenians not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 23, 2024 (when they won 10-0).

Braeden Schlote made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sam Minnette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Crawfordsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Crawfordsville pushed their record up to 6-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benton Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Crawfordsville will take on Western Boone at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Benton Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Twin Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
