Basketball Recap: Northmor Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northmor hadn't done well against Cardington-Lincoln recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Northmor Golden Knights came out on top against the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates by a score of 46-38. This was a revenge game for the Golden Knights: when they faced off against the Pirates back in December of 2024, they had to take a 55-38 defeat.

Northmor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryann Brinkman out in front who posted six points in addition to six assists and six boards. That's the most assists Brinkman has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie May, who put up seven points.

Northmor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Cardington-Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Kinstin Henthorn, who scored 12 points. Henthorn has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Jill Bertke was another key player, putting up six points.

The victory snapped Northmor's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-10 record. As for Cardington-Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northmor will welcome Danville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northmor is facing Danville at the right time seeing as Danville is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Cardington-Lincoln, they will be playing at home against East Knox at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
