Softball Recap: American Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

American dropped their record down to 13-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 13-1 to the Westminster Christian Warriors. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2016.

As for Westminster Christian, they pushed their record up to 16-7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

For Westminster Christian's part, Kaley Dyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Dyer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaby Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mya Rodgers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, American will head out on the road to take on Dr. Krop at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Lightning at the right time seeing as the Lightning are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Westminster Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
