Softball Game Preview: Fountain Inn Fury vs. Wren Hurricanes

Fountain Inn is 0-3 against Wren since March of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Fury will be playing at home against the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Fountain Inn's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.

Last Thursday, Fountain Inn made easy work of Emerald and carried off an 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Fury, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Zoey Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bethany Brown was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Lieb, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Fountain Inn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wren came up short against Palmetto on Monday and fell 10-7.

Fountain Inn is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wren, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
