Preview: Jonathan Alder Pioneers vs. Streetsboro Rockets
The Jonathan Alder Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Streetsboro Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Jonathan Alder got the win against Tecumseh by a conclusive 49-23. Jonathan Alder pushed the score to 42-9 by the end of the third, a deficit Tecumseh cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Streetsboro entered their tilt with Coventry with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Streetsboro really took it to Coventry for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-7 victory on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.
Streetsboro relied on the efforts of Cohen Klimak, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and Preston Hopperton, who gained 149 total yards and four touchdowns. Klimak was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Gibson, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Jonathan Alder to 7-3 and Streetsboro to 9-1.
