Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Sam Houston Hurricanes

The Jefferson Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Sam Houston Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Jefferson is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Brackenridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Jefferson blew Brackenridge out of the water with a 69-36 final score. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Eagles are ranked 1111th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sam Houston lost to Lanier on the road by a 61-46 margin on Friday. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-11. As for Sam Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-23.

Jefferson strolled past Sam Houston in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 55-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
