Baseball Recap: North Rockland Takes Down Ranked John Jay

North Rockland faced John Jay in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders walked away with a 5-2 win over the Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Patriots on Wednesday, they had to take a 8-3 loss.

Chase Perini tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

At the plate, North Rockland let Jacob Herrera and Gabe Reyes run wild. Herrera went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Reyes went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Herrera is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Joe Castaldo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
