Football Recap: Gardena Comes Up Short

If Gardena was feeling good fresh off their 48-26 takedown of Narbonne last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers were dealt a 49-14 loss at the hands of the San Pedro Pirates on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Pirates are ranked 227th).

San Pedro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Seth Solorio out in front who threw for 369 yards and four TDs while picking up 18.5 yards per attempt. Solorio is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. A healthy portion of Solorio's aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Braeden Villegas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Gardena dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for San Pedro, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Gardena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Pedro, they will be playing at home against Carson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
