Football Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Mustangs vs. Arbor View Aggies

Shadow Ridge is 3-0 against Arbor View since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shadow Ridge Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Arbor View Aggies at 4:30 p.m. Shadow Ridge's defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so Arbor View's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Wednesday, Shadow Ridge earned a 27-14 victory over Liberty. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Shadow Ridge can attribute much of their success to Savanna McDow, who rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and Jaylani Palmer, who gained 131 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave McDow a new career-high in rushing yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arbor View). They claimed a resounding 48-0 win over Chaparral. Arbor View's victory was all the more impressive since the Cowboys were averaging only 15 points allowed on the season.

Shadow Ridge better keep an eye on Priscilla Garcia. She was instrumental in Arbor View's win, throwing for 287 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 84% of her passes, and also rushing for 34 yards. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for four or more in the last three games she's played. Another pass catcher making a difference was Jayda Emil, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Arbor View's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.2 points per game. As for Shadow Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Shadow Ridge strolled past Arbor View in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 26-12. Does Shadow Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arbor View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
