Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Clay Eagles

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Clay. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Springfield came up short against Clay on Tuesday, falling 9-1.

For Clay's part, Landon Eversman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Eversman a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Toneff, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Alex Goetz was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Clay, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
