Softball Recap: Danvers' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Danvers gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 24, 2024.

Skylar Coakley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addi McCarty, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Kyla Moroney also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Danvers lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Danvers' win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danvers will head out to take on Swampscott at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they will venture away from home to face off against Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Tanners will no doubt try to take advantage of.
