Recap: Evant Elks vs. Jonesboro Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to The Evant Elks, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They were dealt a 62-6 loss at the hands of Jonesboro on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Evant in their matchups with Jonesboro: they've now lost five in a row.
Jacob Cisneros was his usual excellent self, throwing for 49 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Forrest, who threw for 73 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Evant's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Cherokee and 8-2 Rochelle (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68% over those games). As for Jonesboro, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Evant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jonesboro is on the road again on Thursday and play against Robert Lee at 7:30 p.m. on November 9th. Robert Lee is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
