Softball Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Avon Orioles

Columbus East extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-14 in the process. They lost 14-3 to the Avon Orioles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Olympians have suffered since April 21st.

Fish Baleigh was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run. Lola Watkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

As for Avon, their record is now 6-15. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Avon's side, Brinley Pope was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Columbus East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-4 win against Jeffersonville on the 19th. As for Avon, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-8 loss against Pendleton Heights on the 17th.
