Softball Recap: Ragland Comes Up Short

Ragland lost against Appalachian last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ragland came up short against Appalachian, falling 17-2. The Purple Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anna Burnham was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Anna Smith also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Burnham wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Ragland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Ragland's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Appalachian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Ragland and Appalachian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time Ragland sees the field they'll take on Victory Christian at 4:30 p.m. on April 3. As for Appalachian, their break will end when they face Cleveland at 1:00 p.m. on April 1.
