Only Atascocita (Humble) and Tascosa (Amarillo) have maintained perfect season records in Texas' top classification.

With a 32-0 final regular season record against a very testing schedule, Atascocita remains where it began in this season's MaxPreps Texas Top 25 -- at No. 1.

Perhaps a little more surprising has been the success of No. 10 Tascosa (28-0). Overshadowed in recent seasons by rival Amarillo, Steve Jackson's Rebels have been a dominant force in West Texas throughout the campaign. Tascosa has one game remaining in the regular season at home vs. Frenship (Wolfforth).

Based on a 35-2 record a season ago, David Martinez's Atascocita squad figured to be strong since it returned practically its entire squad. The Eagles were knocked out of the playoffs in the Region II title game by MacArthur (Irving). Tascosa graduated only three from a 22-8 club that saw its season end in a second-round playoff loss to North Crowley.

Atascocita, Tascosa and the other postseason qualifiers will begin a playoff road next week that culminates at the state tournament March 10-12 at San Antonio's Alamodome.
