Basketball Recap: Jubilee Brownsville Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Jubilee Brownsville Titans were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Valley View Tigers. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 13-7 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Jubilee Brownsville had strong showings from Max Hernandez, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points and seven assists, and Nick Zarate, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Hernandez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Holland, who posted seven points.

Jubilee Brownsville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Valley View, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jubilee Brownsville will head out to challenge La Feria at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jubilee Brownsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Valley View, they will venture away from home to face off against Grulla at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Grulla has lost eight straight at home , while Valley View has lost four on the road.
