Baseball Recap: Sweeny Sets Scoring Season-High Against Macarthur

Sweeny's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the MacArthur Generals by a score of 8-5. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nate Benavides made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Kasen Gee was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Jake Coker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Sweeny was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as MacArthur only posted a batting average of .200.

Sweeny now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for MacArthur, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Sweeny has already played their next matchup (against Victoria East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for MacArthur, they will face off against Summer Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
