Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Bulldogs vs. Indian River Indians

The Laurel Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Indian River Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Laurel is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Delmarva Christian by a score of 60-57 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Royals are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, Indian River has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.73 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Seaford, sneaking past 58-55. The victory was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Indian River pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Laurel ended up a good deal behind Indian River when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 47-29. Can Laurel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
