Basketball Recap: Lamar Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Wheatley

Lamar won the last time they faced Wheatley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lamar Texans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wheatley Wildcats, sneaking past 67-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Texans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Wildcats are ranked 149th).

Lamar has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Wheatley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.

Lamar and George Ranch will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Wheatley, they will head out to face off against Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
