Softball Recap: Upper Darby Takes a Loss

Upper Darby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Strath Haven Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Royals of the 8-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Sarah Gentile spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Upper Darby's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Strath Haven, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Upper Darby will square off against Valley Forge Military Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Strath Haven, they will challenge Haverford at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
