Baseball Recap: New Kent Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

While New Kent's win against York wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Falcons on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by just one run.

Michael Hetzel and Ty Staub made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hetzel tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Staub didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Hetzel went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Staub went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Hochman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Tyler Warren was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

New Kent is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for York, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Coming up, New Kent will take on Tabb at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for York, they will square off against Bethel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
