Mercy extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-5 two weeks ago.

As for Archbishop Spalding, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. Considering they have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Archbishop Spalding's part, Cessi Prince looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Prince has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Codi was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Rowley, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy will challenge Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Archbishop Spalding, they will venture away from home to take on McDonogh at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
