Baseball Recap: D'evelyn's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

D'Evelyn won the last time they faced Wheat Ridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Farmers.

Jack Meiser made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. D'Evelyn is 2-1 when Meiser allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Meiser was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ryan Kim and Leo Vigil did most of the damage at the plate: Kim scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Vigil scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Vigil a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Sweetman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

D'Evelyn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

D'Evelyn's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Wheat Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

D'Evelyn will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Conifer at 4:30 p.m. As for Wheat Ridge, they will welcome Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Farmers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season.
