Recap: Xavier College Prep Gators vs. O'Connor Eagles

On Thursday, the Xavier College Prep Gators faced the O'Connor Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Xavier College Prep took down O'Connor 66-47. Winning may never get old, but Xavier College Prep sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Xavier College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominique Nesland, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. Nesland hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Jasmine Olivar was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.

O'Connor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Thalia Daniels, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Daniels hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Bhesania, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Xavier College Prep's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for O'Connor, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier College Prep will take on Basha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Basha focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for O'Connor, they will be playing at home against Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boulder Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while O'Connor is ranked 25th).
