Softball Recap: Bunker Hill's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Bunker Hill had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the East Burke Cavaliers. Eight seems to be a good number for the Bears as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Serena Thurman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Kyra Ryhal was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Setzer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Bunker Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Burke only posted a batting average of .160.

Bunker Hill's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for East Burke, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Bunker Hill wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against West Caldwell on the 30th. East Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
