Softball Game Preview: Royal Palm Beach Wildcats vs. American Heritage Stallions

The Royal Palm Beach Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the American Heritage Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Royal Palm Beach has three straight wins, American Heritage has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Royal Palm Beach took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Forest Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over the Falcons on Monday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Falcons on their field since April 5, 2022.

Meanwhile, American Heritage came up short against Aubrey Rogers on Saturday, falling 20-5.

American Heritage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julianne Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Ashley Knapp also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Royal Palm Beach picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-8. As for American Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Royal Palm Beach has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .569. However, it's not like American Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Royal Palm Beach might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from American Heritage when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
