Basketball Recap: Madison Patriots vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars
If Madison was feeling good fresh off their 59-28 takedown of Rosman last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Madison Patriots were beaten by the Mountain Heritage Cougars 60-31 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-36 back in January.
Despite the loss, Madison still got an impressive performance from Paige Peek, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points.
Mountain Heritage had a senior duo take command as Lilly Neill dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards and Grace Brooks went 6 for 9 on her way to 15 points. Mallie Mae Buchanan was another key player, going 5 of 10 to rack up 13 points.
Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Mountain Heritage, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will challenge Owen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Mountain Heritage, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Heritage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
