Softball Recap: Maclay Marauders vs. Rickards Raiders

Maclay can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on the Rickards Raiders with a sharp 17-2 victory. The win was just what Maclay needed coming off of a 12-5 loss in their prior contest.

The team relied heavily on Addison Liepshutz, who went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Walmsley, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

On Rickards' side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shanyia Holmes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Shaniah Bennett, who went 1-for-1 with a stolen base and two RBI.

Maclay's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Rickards, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maclay will face off against Jefferson County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rickards, they will head out on the road to take on Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
