Preview: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Spencerport Rangers
Gates Chili is 8-2 against Spencerport since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Gates Chili Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Spencerport Rangers at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Gates Chili focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Gates Chili scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They managed a 76-72 victory over Northeast/Northwest College Prep. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Gates Chili as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gates Chili to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Vigerzi, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists. Vigerzi has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jeremy Tantalo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Spencerport lost to Irondequoit at home by a decisive 66-51 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Spencerport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Irondequoit is ranked 123rd).
Gates Chili's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Spencerport, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
