            Softball Recap: Pine Tree Pirates vs. Carthage Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            If Pine Tree was riding high  fresh off their  16-5 takedown of Kilgore last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates lost  12-6 to the Carthage Bulldogs on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  13-1  back in March.
 Pine Tree saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Zamoria Smith, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-4. Smith also  hit a  double, marking her first of the season.  Rhi Black was another,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Pine Tree dropped their record down to 9-16-1 with the  defeat, which was their third straight  on the road. As for Carthage,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 19-5-1.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Tree will square off against Gilmer at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Buckeyes' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6  runs per game  this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carthage, they will face off against Chapel Hill at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Carthage is facing Chapel Hill at the right time seeing as Chapel Hill is stuck on  a  15-game losing streak.
