Football Game Preview: Gervais Cougars vs. Cascade Christian Challengers

Two dominant backs in Johnny Mariano and Bryson Walker are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gervais Cougars will challenge the Cascade Christian Challengers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gervais comes in on three and Cascade Christian on 11.

Gervais is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Douglas with points to spare, taking the game 44-29.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Cascade Christian on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew North Valley out of the water with a 42-6 final score. Considering the Challengers have won ten games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gervais better keep an eye on Deryk Farmer. He was instrumental in Cascade Christian's win, throwing for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while also rushing for 40 yards and a pair of TDs. Mikey Covey was another key player, picking up 116 receiving yards and one score.

Cascade Christian didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Valley to a completion percentage of just 50%. The last time the Challengers' completion percentage was this high was back in November of 2024.

Gervais' record is now 7-3. As for Cascade Christian, their record now sits at 11-0.
