Softball Recap: Nicholas County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Braxton County last Wednesday, Nicholas County came back down to earth. The Grizzlies lost 12-4 to the Hoover Huskies on Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Nicholas County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenzie Hanshaw, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Nicholas County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hoover, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Coming up, Nicholas County will square off against Greenbrier West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Hoover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.1, the Panthers 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
