Preview: River View Black Bears vs. Coshocton Redskins
After two games on the road, River View is heading back home. They will take on The Coshocton Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, River View slipped by Maysville 57-56.
Meanwhile, Coshocton missed an extra point against West Muskingum on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Coshocton and West Muskingum were almost perfectly matched up, but Coshocton suffered an agonizing 57-56 defeat. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (41), Coshocton still had to take the loss.
Loss or not, Coshocton got some senior leadership from Riley Woodie who rushed for 132 yards and four touchdowns and Antwone Johns who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Johns was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Another player making a difference was Israel Rice, who rushed for 119 yards on only 12 carries.
Finally capturing their first victory of the season, River View advanced to 1-8. Coshocton has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost seven of their first nine games, which leaves them at a 2-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for River View against Coshocton when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 41-12 win. Does River View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coshocton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
